Dover Street - Voted Bar of the Year - Succeeds with Aloha Restaurant Software from NFS
Nominated in the Bar of the Year category for the London Lifestyle Awards 2010, and now one of three finalists, Dover Street Restaurant & Bar, located in London's Mayfair, offers a winning combination of French and Mediterrenean cuisine, with nightly live music and dancing into the small hours.
Established in 1979, Dover Street houses several different areas, each with its own dining facility and VIP bar, making it an ideal venue for corporate functions and events, catering for private groups of up to 120, and takeovers from 200 to 400 guests. Individual diners also flock to the popular venue, which often sees celebrities from the fields of sport and entertainment coming through its doors.
NFS Hospitality is a long-standing technology supplier to Dover Street, having installed Aloha EPOS in 2004, and Aloha Loyalty in January 2009.
The Aloha Loyalty deployment has enabled the business to create The Dover Street Rewards scheme, which offers valued customers the opportunity to earn points every time they visit the venue. All card holders are able to redeem these points against generous gifts, including bottles of champagne and a la carte meals for two, four or six people; plus, card holders are kept up-to-date with monthly newsletters that include exclusive special offers.
Stuart Graffham, Dover Street's F&B / IT Manager, oversaw both Aloha implementations and says that the Loyalty module was selected because up to that point, there was no loyalty system in place. "We knew we had a pretty good customer base but needed to see if we could expand it to include younger and maybe not so well-to-do customers," he says. "Our solution was to offer rewards that hopefully customers would find beneficial and tempt them to keep coming back."
Stuart feels the scheme has definitely become a direct contributor to increased profits, as certain individuals now return more frequently just to get the points.
Since installation of Aloha Loyalty, Stuart has seen many changes in the business. "The main benefits of the rewards system for us is the ability to track exactly what customers are having and to be able to target customers according to the amount of points earned. This gives us the ability to remind customers not using the system that we exist and to up sell to customers that are using the points system well."
Aloha is being used successfully in collaboration with their stock control software, also provided by NFS. which Stuart notes is both fast and reliable. "It's vary rare that I have to call NFS Support," he says.
Extra loyalty points are rewarded to customers who recommend people to join the scheme, so Stuart does get some amusing calls from people who want to make sure that they get 250 points added to their account. "The strangest thing of all is that virtually all of our customers are storing up as many points as they can and not redeeming them; we already have quite a few customers with in excess of 8,000 points, and we have one customer with over 12,000 points. I would love to know what they are waiting for."
