FAQ

What is the video module?

The video module allows you to upload high quality videos to your online entry.

How does it work?

It converts popular video formats into a ‘Flash’ web format, which is perfect for high quality videos that can be quickly streamed on the internet.

What are the benefits of video to my online entry?

You get another online marketing channel to reach potential clients. A high quality and compelling video will get potential customers even closer to your products and services.

Videos have also become an established marketing tool on the web with the growth of broadband and video technology. Even Google is starting to return videos separately in search results.

Where can my videos be viewed?

The videos can be found in three places:
- Your online entry
- The site search results

- The Exhibitor Directory

Before you start

What file types can be uploaded?

Most popular file types can be uploaded including: AVI, MPEG, WMV, FLV and MOV.

What formats are not possible to upload?

You cannot upload files in the format .SWF

What if the video is in a format that cannot be uploaded?

Speak with the agency that created the video and they will be able to convert it for you.

What is the file size limit?

The limit is 40mb

Why is there a limit on the file size?

If there are too many large video files on a site, it may play them at a slightly slower speed. Processing times will also take a lot longer.

What duration can a video be?

This is up to you, but longer videos are less likely to be viewed than shorter videos, unless the content is educational.

How should the video file be named?

You can give the file any name you wish but it must not include special character such as !ӣ$%.

How many can I upload?

You can upload 10 videos

Creating the Video

STAGE 1 – Main Details

1. Title
• This should be short and entice Users to watch the video.
• Use words that are completely relevant to the video to catch the Users eye and to optimise it for the site search. For example ‘Product x demonstration’ is more useful than ‘Video 1’.

2. Description
• Make it brief (no more than a couple of lines or bullets), detailing the main benefits, selling points or highlights, so the user can quickly scan it to decide its relevance.

3. Duration
• Add duration in minutes and seconds, for example 03:30.
• The video length gives the User an indication of how much time they will have to commit to watching it and the quantity information of contained within it.

STAGE 2 – Uploading video

• Follow the instructions at the top of the page, and click the 'next' button to upload.
• Please be patient when uploading the video. Because of the large file size it can take a few minutes for the next stage to appear.

If the video does not upload, check the following:
• That the file is not in Flash format (the file name will end with .SWF)
• The file size is under 40mb.
• The video name does not contains special characters such as !”£$

STAGE 3 (Optional) – Uploading a supporting PDF

• Follow the instructions at the top of the page, and click the 'next' button to upload.
• You can add a PDF document to provide supporting information about the video. This could be a technical specification, further product/ service information or a transcript of the video’s content.
• Adding a transcript is advisable as it will make the video content accessible to visually impaired Users and search engines such as Google.

STAGE 4 – Categorise Video

• Please specify the categories you wish to associate with this entry, so it will be returned when Users search the site.
• The more accurate you are at specifying these the more likely the right customer will find the video.

STAGE 5 – Preview Video

• Although the entry is created, the video may not yet be processed, for up to another 24 hours. This will be indicated with the message: Generating file... Video queued for processing...
• If you are happy with the information click ‘submit for approval’, or click ‘back’ to amend information at any of the stages.

Previewing Your Completed Video Entry

• To view the finalised video before it appears within your entry, log back into the exhibitor zone after 24 hours and click the ‘Preview’ link next to the entry’s title.
• The entry will have a thumbnail image taken at random from the original video. This is not possible to change.
• To play the video, either press the play button below the video image or click on the ‘view in pop-up window’ link.
